LAKELAND, GA- History was made on yesterday (May 11th) at the Track & Field State Championship in Athens GA. As the Lanier County High junior Kali Simmons won Track & Field State Championship in both the 400m, and the 200m. Becoming the first track & field athlete in the school history to achieve that accomplishment. Kali skills and determination are proof that you can do hard things. She was breaking records her sophomore year, and she has made history her junior year. I want to give a huge congratulation to the whole LCHS Track & Field team, and their Coach Zares Kimbrough for an amazing season. The last time that the Lanier County High Track & Field team won the State Championship was in 1993. Congratulations to Kali Simmons for making history as the LCHS Track & Field Track State Champion in the 400m and the 200m.
