Lakeisha Phillips, better known as AriaKai, was born in Wurzburg, Germany on April 23rd,1991. She grew up as a military brat, traveling around the world from Hawaii to Chicago. AriaKai attended high school just outside of Chicago and in December of 2008, she graduated ahead of her class. After walking the high school stage, she chose to further her education by attending Alabama State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice.
Singing came natural to AriaKai at a very young age. At the age of only three AriaKai sang “I Will Always Love You” by the wonderful Whitney Houston to her father on his birthday. She knew from then on that she was destined to become a singer. She later joined her church choir and it was there that she gained the confidence to pursue music as a career. AriaKai enjoys music of all genres, from Hip-Hop and Pop to Rhythm & Blues, and she prides herself on her vocal versatility. She draws inspiration from many other powerful female artists such as Lauryn Hill, Jazmine Sullivan, Beyoncé, and Rihanna.
Today, at the age of 30, AriaKai is ready to take her music to the next level. She has performed in front of huge crowds at Atlanta’s own Sweet Auburn Fest and other local events. She feels that her grand entrance onto the musical scene will prove that making music is about more than just having a voice. It is about making people feel your passion through your music and giving them a peek into your heart, mind, and soul.
