

Gerren Tomlin (OH) continues to dominate as she led Delaware State’s volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-18, 25-23) over UMES at Hytche Center on Friday. Tomlin recorded a double-double with 13 kills, 10 digs, and a match-high 9 aces. The victory moves the Hornets to a 9-11 overall record, with a 5-2 standing in the MEAC.

Hornets Finish Fourth at 2024 SAS Golf Tournament
The Delaware State University women’s golf team placed fourth at the 2024 SAS Golf Tournament on October 13th at the Prestonwood Country Club. The team scored 309 in round one, 311 in round two, and 325 in round three, for a total score of 945, finishing 47 strokes behind the leader, Alabama State. Claudia Hofmeister placed fourth individually, with a total score of 223 (70-75-78).
The Hornets will compete next in the Eastside Golf Invitational in Katy, Texas, starting Sunday, November 3.

Hornets Take Seventh in Division 1 at East Regional
The Delaware State University Triathlon team placed seventh in the Division 1 standings at the East Regional Race on October 12. Ava Larkins led the team with a 43rd place finish, clocking in at 1:03:24. Emma Schloefield followed in 68th place (1:10:23), while Lison Zeigler and Daniell Fleurima finished 69th and 77th, respectively.
The team will head to Nationals on November 9th in Clermont, FL.

Emily Breidgam Named to All-Tournament Team, Hornets Finish Seventh at Bud Whitman Tournament
Delaware State opened its 2024-25 bowling season at the Bud Whitman Invitational, finishing seventh overall. Emily Breidgam led the Hornets with a 215.6 average, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. The Hornets went 4-0 in traditional matches on Saturday, but dropped to the loser bracket on Sunday before finishing with a win over Alvernia University.
The Hornets will return to action in Orlando, Florida, from October 18-20.

Katie Knapp Shines Despite Team Struggles
Despite Delaware State’s 9-1 loss to Mercyhurst on October 20, goalkeeper Katie Knapp stood out with six saves. Mercyhurst took an early lead with goals from Madison Sievering and Fiona Fraser within the first ten minutes of play, eventually building an 8-0 advantage. Delaware State’s Codie Lewis scored her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute, assisted by Nicole Cargill.
The Hornets registered nine shots on goal but were unable to overcome Mercyhurst’s strong offensive play.
