Dover, Delaware- Delaware State’s softball team has been quietly recording a second-half season for the books. Or maybe folks just haven’t been listening? As we enter May and the beginning of playoffs, the Lady Hornets are bringing the momentum of a 16-game winning streak as they head into the MEAC conference tournament in Norfolk, Virginia. They enter postseason play in second place, bolstered by an impressive string of wins that has made them one of the hottest teams in the country. Their run this season has not only elevated their ranking, but also strengthened their confidence as they prepare to face top competition.

Del State softball’s current winning stretch stands as the longest active run among Division I programs, surpassing even powerhouse teams like UCLA. Although the start of the season was tough, Delaware State’s success has been driven by consistent execution on both sides of the ball, with timely hitting, solid pitching, and reliable defense all playing key roles. As they head into the tournament, the Hornets will aim to carry this momentum forward, using their recent dominance and second-place standing as a foundation for a deep postseason run.
In true Del State style, this team is definitely “making its mark on the world” of softball.
