Thiana Chester, a passionate artist with a soulful voice, knew since she was three that she wanted to sing. She grew up on the West Side of Chicago, singing in school and church choirs, determined to shine. After performing in a talent show at the age of six, she already felt like a star.
As a teen, Thiana was shy, a daydreamer. However, destined to follow her dreams, she started taking vocal lessons and joined a few singing groups in high school, which helped strengthen her voice and brought her out of her shell.
Today, Thiana writes all of her own music. She’s inspired by stories from her life’s journey, deep conversations and spiritual connections with people, and her future aspirations.
She’s opened for artists like Faith and Monica, sang at an event hosted by Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition, performed at various Chicago nightclubs and lounges, as well as festivals,
weddings and funerals. Thiana has auditioned for America’s Got Talent and American Idol and has done interviews and had her music played on local Chicago radio stations.
Thiana’s favorite genres of music to sing and listen to are R&B and gospel. She grew up around rap and hip hop groups like Do or Die and Crucial Conflict and singer Syleena Johnson, however, artists who’ve inspired her the most are Whitney Houston and Etta James. Two of her favorite songs are At Last and I Will Always Love You.
Aside from continuing to flourish in her singing career, Thiana is writing a book based on her life experiences. A truly creative artist, she’s also developing a makeup line while managing her styling business.
Thiana says music has been her best friend, through good times and bad. She looks forward to learning more, being open to all opportunties and continuing to grow as an artist.
