Q: You have made such an impact in the music game. Your last record “Let Me Breathe” was a smash hit throughout the southern region. How did you come up with the concept for “Let Me Breathe”?
Tazzy: Ok so “Let Me Breathe” is a track that I came up with a long time ago. Reason is everyone have those days, especially me where you just want to be left alone. You just want to chill, all the negativity, the bull you been through for the week or that month. However long it been going on, or however long you been letting it affect you or myself is time to put that to the side. Today is the day to put all that to the side and just relax, just chill, have fun, laugh and enjoy life.
Q: How did you feel about your record “Let Me Breathe” being well received like it was?
Tazzy: I knew that people were going to relate to “Let Me Breathe”, but I didn’t think it was going to take off the way it took off you know as fast as it did. The video was fun shout out to Gamestar Entertainment that video was real fun, cool, calm, it really described how I really used to be at home how I used to be back in the day back at the crib in Miami. So when it took off like that I was like yeah. I even had young ones liking it I had old heads liking it. It’s very soulful, it’s a vibe and it’s relatable.
Q: What is the feeling like when you’re in the studio making music?
Tazzy: When I’m in the studio making music I’m in my own zone, I’m like in a different world. I’m at peace just like when I’m at the beach or around water music. I love it when I’m in there I don’ have a huge crowd in there so it’s very relaxing. If my music family is there, they come you know what I mean if not it’s just me and the engineer or maybe somebody that might come with me otherwise it’s just me. Other than that I love it is like my sanctuary
Q: Tell us a little about your current EP that you recently released?
Tazzy: So “Mixed Feelings” is exactly what it sounds like its mixed feelings. So the EP is very diverse you get some sexy you, you get some conscience, you get some crunk, you get some you know ratchet, rough, you get a little dancehall side, a little real, everything. You know cause exactly how I stated exactly what I feel is what I write about, but also it was to introduce myself to the world and let you all really know who Tazzy Redd is.
Q: Your follow up record to “Let Me Breathe” is currently well received as well, “Tazzmainia.” How did you come up with that record?
Tazzy: So Tazzmainia was a record that I don’t know it just came to me. You know it’s about me having my land called Tazzmainia. My rule on how things would be out there it’s like only the real could be out there. It’s a metaphor only the real can be around me that’s what I want around my circle. I want positivity even if we bump heads I want truthfulness stuff like that loyalty you know and it was also to show I still got it. Don’t’ get it twisted I come with my niceness and I can change up my flow but Tazzmainia shows I still got that rough neck about me. I’m humble at the end of the day, but don’t get it twisted you know when push comes to shove, it’s going to come out, and but my goons lol nah my family like they real about it to.
Q: You currently have a few things in motion, the new single, the new clothing line, and your talk show. What drives you to grind the way that you do?
Tazzy: The reason why I grind the way that I do is because I need a foundation already built for my girls. I don’t need them to struggle the way that we did coming up. We didn’t struggle like so bad cause my mom, I love her so much she did whatever she had to do to make sure we were good and legit, and she really hustled and had legit hustles. You know all hustles don’t have to be trapping and all that stuff or tricking it can be legit things that you look to see that you can do to make some more money, so I need to have that foundation built for my girls already. I need to be able to retire when I’m ready within a few years and not have to work a 9 to 5 when I’m 65. Being able to help out these children to go on a better path. I’m grinding the way I do so I can reach out to everybody. Redd’s Alienated Nation my brand with Alienated Apparel under has a brand phrase you “We Just Can’t Fit In” and that’s a metaphor that you don’t always have to fit in with nobody it’s always somebody there that is compatible with you. So, there is no need to try and fit in with a crowd that you know is not really for you. So that’s the reason why I grind the way that I do.
Q: The females have been representing this year in hip hop. With the success of Latto, Coi Leray, and Gorilla. What is your take of the current state of hip hop, and the success of the currently female emcees?
Tazzy: Actually, commend all the females in this hip hop game that’s been successful especially because they are talented. The ones that are talented coo dos to you for hustling and grinding and getting up there because of your talents. Even if you have someone writing for you, as long as you’re giving credit when credit is due and you’re still talented on that stage and in front of that camera I think that’s great I think it’s awesome.
Q I asked every independent artist this question, so I got to ask you. If you could work with any mainstream artists right now, who would it be with, and why?
Tazzy: If I could work with any mainstream artists right now there’s quite a bit. Joyner Lucas is definitely one, Jack Harlow is another. I would love to work with Travis Scott his beats are amazing, Timbaland, and Swizz Beatz. I would love to work with TLC, Janet Jackson, Akon, Lady Gaga, Vybz Kartel, Spice, Movado, I’d like to work with Stylo G like it’s so many mainstreams I would love to work with, like Stefflon Don because there so different, Kendrick Lamar but there is a few, that was probably more than a few. The reason why is because they are so different, they’re so talented and the way I think and the concepts that I come up with and the flows I just flow with and how they are I just know the tracks would be banging I know we would just make bangers.
Q: What plans does Tazzy Redd have for the rest of 2022?
Tazzy: For the rest of 2022 I plan on preparing myself for 2023. Myself and my manager Rinakreeps shout out have been brainstorming and discussing new goals and stuff and we are planning on going a different route in this music game and I think it’s going to be awesome, and I can’t wait. And that’s about it. Like the radio show is currently being revamped and my brand I’m working on getting this brand up and popping and growing. With the music getting ready to come out with a mixtape and then also working on the next album. So were brainstorming and we are getting ready for it so 2023 just standby because it’s going to be exclusive.
Q: Are there any last comments that you would like to make?
Tazzy: Well y’all be on the lookout for the next mixtape that’s coming out very soon, my next album in the works, revamp of The Redd Light Show, Alienated Apparel and my alienated models under my brand Redd’s Alienated Nation. Shout out to my management Rina Kreeps always there showing me the ropes making me more knowledgeable of this game. Pat, I definitely thank you for the opportunity for everything. The R Report the same thing you guys always provide opportunities. And if anybody wants a feature with me or a collaboration, let’s do it.
