Q: How was it growing up on the Eastside of Chicago?
Popout Pacino: Growing up on the East side of Chicago was treacherous to say the least. But we were pretty tight within our apts. everybody mommas kinda knew each other. We got into shit leaving the block fr fr.
Q: How did you discover your passion for music in St. Louis?
Popout Pacino: Freestyling in the back of a Honda. Lol!
Q: Who pushed you to start rapping and how did it come about?
Popout Pacino: When I was in high school my boys Doobie & Stephan used to be rapping & used to always try to get me to jump in the cyphers. I used to be like nah man, i don’t rap, Ima just be y’all hype man. Then one day I finally jumped on a beat, the rest was history.
Q: When did you start taking music seriously and why?
Popout Pacino: I would say like 2016/2017. That’s like when I branched off & started doing my solo thing. Perfecting my craft, finding my own sound & style. I also started learning about the business side of things & realized it was gone to take a lot more than paying for studio time.
Q: When did you move to Atlanta? And was it because you wanted to start a career in the music industry?
Popout Pacino: I moved to Atlanta in 2019. Music was part of the reason, but my reason was to be closer to my daughter. Her & her mom had moved to ATL the year before.
Q: Did moving to Atlanta make your journey with your music career easier or tougher?
Popout Pacino: To be honest, neither. I kinda have been at a standstill with my music up until recently. Moving to ATL with no family or support caused me to have to put the music on pause while I got myself settled & adjusted to the city.
Q: Since you moved to Atlanta, how have the people supported and reacted toward your music?
Popout Pacino: I’ve done a couple showcases since I’ve been here. People have been feeling me. It’s really my fault I don’t get as much support as I could because my music isn’t released yet.
Q: Can we expect any new projects from Popout Pacino?
Popout Pacino: My 1st solo project is set to drop in March. I don’t have an exact date, but it will be either the 17th or 23rd of March.
Q: What kind of rapper does Popout Pacino consider himself?
Popout Pacino: I really don’t like to categorize myself because I have so many styles. I really just adapt to whatever beat I’m feeling. If I had to say anything I would say I’m a “turn up” rapper. I like to make music that I feel would pop in the club but still felt in the streets.
Q: Popout Pacino was one of the winners at a concert series in Atlanta, did it motivate you to keep grinding?
Popout Pacino: Yeah, for sure it motivates me to keep grinding. It’s letting me know that even when I feel off my square with the music. I’m still on the right track as far as making music that people f**k with.
Q: What have you learned so far that you would tell other upcoming artists?
Popout Pacino: I’ve learned that you only get out of this game what you put into it. When I felt like wasn’t anything happening for me, it was when I really wasn’t putting in the work & effort. This really is no days off kinda business.
Q: The R Report Magazine would like to thank you for taking the time out for this interview. Is it anyone you would like to thank or give a shout out to?
Popout Pacino: I would like to give a s/o to Jae Howes for giving me this opportunity. I would like to give thanks to R Report Magazine for taking the time to get to know me a bit better. I just wanna say, please be on the lookout for my upcoming project “Price of Fame” & continue to show myself & other new artists love. A little encouragement can go a long way.
