50 Cent has revealed that he turned down a lucrative offer to perform at Donald Trump’s recent campaign rally at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The G-Unit mogul appeared on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (October 29) where he spoke about rejecting a $3 million payday from the Trump campaign to make an appearance at the event on Sunday (October 27), which has stirred controversy thanks to racially offensive jokes made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe.
With the presidential election looming, DJ Envy asked 50: “Is it true Donald Trump tried to give you money to endorse him one time?”
50 replied: “I got a call — they wanted me for Sunday,” referring to the MSG rally, before revealing that Trump’s team offered him $3 million.
Explaining his decision to turn down the offer, the Queens, New York native said: “I’m afraid of politics. I do not like no part of politics. When you do get involved in it, no matter how you feel, someone passionately disagrees with you. I stay away from religion, I stay away from politics.”
He then joked: “That’s the formula for the confusion that has sent Kanye to Japan. He said something about both of those things, and now he can only go to Japan.”
50 confirmed that he also declined an invitation to perform at the Republican National Convention this past summer.
Despite turning down the opportunity to perform at Trump’s rally, 50 Cent has been complimentary of the controversial former president in the past.
