YNW Melly has requested prayers ahead of the second day of his double murder trial in which he’s being accused of shooting and killing two friends of his in October 2018.
The Florida rapper (real name Jamell Demons) took to Instagram on Tuesday (June 13) to ask his fans for their support as his life currently lies in the hands of a judge in Broward County, Florida.
“Go watch and support me during trial [light green heart] send a prayer for me [praying hands emoji][Earth emoji] Day 2,” he captioned the post.
When YNW Melly’s trial officially began on June 12, the rapper appeared to wipe back tears as footage of his alleged victims was played in court.
Reporting on behalf of Law & Crime, Bryson Paul remarked that the prosecution played footage of the rapper’s two alleged victims — YNW Juvy (Christopher Thomas Jr., 19) and YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams, 21) — being wheeled away on a stretcher.
It was the sight of these two deceased men that brought many in the courtroom — including the “Murder on My Mind” rapper — to tears.
“#YNWMellyTrial: As video footage shows @YNWMelly deceased friends put on stretchers at the hospital, all but one of the women (4) in victims’ families exit the courtroom in tears. Melly even appears to wipe his eye lids,” Paul tweeted.
It has also been confirmed that the State of Florida will seek the death penalty against YNW Melly if he is, indeed, found guilty in the case, as long as the verdict of guilt is unanimous in the case.
